My love of gardening is what turned me into a painter. In my 20’s I lived in Seaside, Oregon and I was super curious about learning about gardening and I spent hours picking the brain of my G Lo (Grandma Lois -master gardener, world traveler, all around sass and ruler of the black family realm). I bought the Sunset Western Garden Book and would go on walks with friends and try to identify plants. I loved Georgia O’Keeffe and wanted to put my new obsession onto canvas.

Jump forward to my 40’s… and the last 6 years got busy. i was managing a bar, doing art, booking/playing drums in a Tom Petty Tribute Band “Hamburger Petty”, created/ran a yearly event for local artists “Art, Whisky and Crafts”, traveling AND had a baby at 42.

I am now getting to stay home with my little guy, getting to experience life in a whole new way. Slowing down, looking at our surroundings in the light of experiencing it for the first time -sounds, changes of light, different textures, color, food, smiles, family, reassurance. And with it fires off my creative side with new concepts and perception.

Currently my art education is mainly utube tutorials. Amazing what you can learn with a lot of curiosity, drive and the internet.
